Well, earlier this week a new member introduced themselves, and it turns out they live in San Diego! Not only that but his dane (Marilyn) was born on 1/27/09...just 1 day before me! Imagine that!
After a few emails back and forth with Tony (that's Marilyn's human) it was decided that we had to meet. Not only to compare size and growth, but to also have someone the same age to play with. It gets kinda hard trying to play with all the other 5 month old dogs when they are 1/3 to 1/2 my size!
So, tonight after work Mom loaded me in the SUV (yeah, yeah...I still aint gettin in that thing on my own, but why should I when she lifts me up so nicely??) and we headed over to dog beach in OB. Yipeee! I LOVE the beach!
Right away after we got there I spotted Marilyn. Marilyn's dad said the breeder told him she was a harlequin, but that obviously says alot about what kind of breeder she is. Marilyn is actually what you would consider a piebald. Harlequins are basically white with patchy splotches of black. Not that she still wasnt beautiful, but the breeder really didnt know what she was talking about.
Boy though, is she a big girl! We were about the same height, but she has at least 10 lbs on me. Mom says that's cuz I havent been eating much...but you try chewing on tough kibble when your crunching teeth are coming in! OUCH!
Anyway, at first I was a little intimidated by her. She's solid, and I wasnt quite sure how she'd like me. But soon we were off and racing around and having a great time!
I took her down quite a bit, but she also was pretty good with the body blows. At least that's what I let her think...I mean, really...arent you suppose to let the girls win?
Check out those ears! I thought mine were the only ones that did that!
Finally, after about an hour of playin, we were pooped. That was the cue for us to leave and of course head to Dog Beach Dog Wash. All in all though it was another great night at the beach...even if it did mean having to get another bath!
