Road Trip! (part 1)

This past weekend, Mom took me on my very first vacation. Yeah, Yeah...I've spent time away from home before, usually at Grandmaw's & Grandpaw's, but this was different. I got to stay in a motel!

Mom & a friend were headed to Santa Barbara for the weekend. Mom's friend was running something called a marathon, and Mom wanted me to keep her company while she cheered her on

At first, Mom was a bit discouraged. All the hotels that accepted dogs had a weight limit or a crazy nightly fee Mom would have to pay. After a bit of searching though, Mom found a great little motel called the Blue Sands. No weight limit, and only a $10 fee per doggie per night. How awesome is that!?!

We arrived on Friday morning and it was an absolutely beautiful day. It had finally cooled down a bit after our southern California heat wave, and I was lovin it.

It was a cute, spanish style motel & even included a pool! Unfortunately, that was one of the rules...no doggies in the pool area. That's ok..I much prefer the beach anyway!

The room itself wasn't huge, but a decent size with enough space for 2 queen beds (one of which was fit for a king!) BOL!

It even had a fully functional kitchen! Complete with a full size fridge, a microwave & a miniature stove!

Half a block down the street was the beach. No dogs allowed off leash there...but since it wasn't really tourist season and there weren't a lot of people on the beach, Mom let me off leash a few times and just kept a sharp eye out for the beach patrol. (check out how clear it was...you can even see the Channel Islands in the distance!)

Directly across from the hotel was a fabulous park. If you biggefy the picture you should be able to see why I was so excited about getting over to the park!

It was a gorgeous young English Mastiff! Her name was Mudge. She was staying at the hotel with her family...a Mom & Dad & their 3 kids! She was named after a character in the children's book, Henry & Mudge. I thought she was beautiful, & we instantly started our vacation romance!

Boy did we have fun. She liked playin bitey face just as much as I do!

Mudge, and this cool labrachick (I totally forget her name now, since I only had eyes for Mudge) were both staying at the motel too!

Can't wait to tell you more about my vacation! Til next time...

Awww vacation romance! I love her name! Mudge!

I hate how hotels have size/weight limits for dogs. Our big dogs are probably way better behaved than those yappy little dogs they do allow. But it looks like it was for the best cause the place you found looks awesome!

I'm glad you got to take a vacation. We prefer to take the hounds with us on trips. It's great when you find an accommodating hotel for dogs too. I enjoyed your photos. You and Mudge make a lovely couple! ;)

Wow, Murphy - that is SOME vacation! Great hotel, romantic spots, hot gals...the works! :-)

I was so impressed to see you on the bed. All the places that allow dogs here always say "No dogs on the bed" - not that my humans let me on the bed or any furniture anyway but still, Hsin-Yi was impressed at how *really* dog-friendly it was. (In fact, a lot of holiday rental places that say "dog-friendly" here actually insist that dogs stay outside on the porch or in the garden! What is the point of that??!!)

Can't wait to see part 2
