ProActive Balance Review

Most of you might be aware that Mom feeds me a raw diet. The diet I get is also known as Raw Prey Model. I've been on it since I was about 11 months old...so just over a whole year now.

My diet consists of 80% muscle meat, 10% bone & 10% organ meat.

For the most part I do great on this diet. My skin is not dry & my coat is glossy. My teeth are nice and clean. I do have a super sensitive stomach though, and sometimes I still get soft poops (sheesh Mom...I can't believe you are making me blog about this, its SOO embarrassing!)

Because of that, Mom is always lookin for supplements that might help my tummy troubles. One thing she tries to give me on a regular basis is probiotics, so when a rep from ProActive Balance contacted her about giving their supplement a try, she said 'sure!'.
ProActve Blance
The nice lady sent us a 30 day supple of the supplement, with instructions to give one packet daily with a meal. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to make much sense to Mom. The packets were super small....and I'm not sure if the rep has ever seen me...but I'm super huge! Does that mean a small 5 lb dog gets the same daily dose that I do at 140 lbs? Something doesn't seem right about that.

The next problem was how to feed. Since I get raw meat, there isn't always something for Mom to mix it in. She tried sprinkling it on my chicken, or my beef...but I am a smart boy and didn't really want to eat a piece of meat that had sprinkles all over it! On the days that I got ground beef, or canned mackeral, it was easy to feed...but the other days, not so much.

The only other thing that Mom wasn't sure about was the ingredients. Nutriose, Dextriose, pre-biotics & pro-biotics.

1st. Nutriose is a soluble fiber made from wheat and maize starch. From what Mom's read, wheat and maize (aka: corn!) are two items that a lot of dogs have problems digesting, or have allergies to. If your dog doesn't...that's great. Maybe this is the product for you!

2nd, Dextriose is basically sugar.

lastly, Mom couldn't find much information on the prebiotics & probiotics that are part of the ingredient list.

Overall, Mom didn't see any real benefit from feeding this supplement. That's not to say you won't though! Go check out their website, and you can even get a free sample...give it a try and see what you think!

Hmmm, that's interesting - I(Jasper) have a very sensitive tummy as well! Its not practical for me to get fed a raw diet, but I am on a good dry food, with no grains in it and generally my tummy is fine and i do very well on it. But I also do still suffer from soft stools sometimes :( Do your humans give anything extra to you to help with it? Because Laura would be interested :)

Licks and lots of slobber,
