Monday, I will officially turn 8 months old. Can you believe that? It seems like just yesterday that I was a wee lil pup, hardly big enough to crawl up the front porch steps. That seems like a pretty big accomplishment to me. 8 months is a not a very long time, but boy did I get a lot done in those 8 months.
Probably my biggest job during those 8 months was growin. I think I did a purty good job.
Here I am at 14 weeks...pretty cute if I do say so myself.
and here I am now...34 weeks old.
Now that I'm a big boy, Mom says I need to get fixed. I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I say "if its not broke, why fix it?"She's not buyin it.
She says tomorrow morning we go to the betterinarian. Guess I'm gonna be out of commission for a little while, cuz not only am I gettin tutored (or sumthin like that), but the betterinarian is also going to tack my tummy. Do I look fat to you? I just dont get it.
Mom says to think good thoughts for me, and send me healing vibes. I thought heeling was something we did in doggie class, but she seems to know better than I do so if I were you I'd listen to her.
So, for now...g'night. I'll let you know how the fixin thing goes tomorrow!

uh oh... with surgery comes the cone of shame! darwin hated the cone! hope the surgery went smoothly and you heal quickly!
Good luck and we're sending very good thoughts your way! If it's an option, I HIGHLY recommend getting some doggie downers for the first few days at least. I didn't have Heffner tacked when he got neutered, but he was ready to rumble by the next morning.
Oh Murphy - good luck! I also had to have The Operation (I had mine at 6 months!) and they say the one for the boy doggies is less serious than the one for girl doggies, so I'm sure you will be fine! :-) I also heard that the tacking stomach thing is good for making you safer later so you don't get the horrible sickness called "bloat" - I didn't get that, though, because I think only the vets in America do that more. Here, they only do it if you have already gotten the bloat sickness.
Anyway, am sending lots of slobbers and we agree with Bess & Heffner - I had lots of yummy chicken-flavour pain killers for after my operation which made me feel much better!
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
Good luck Murphy! Your auntie is sending you positive thoughts!
