Even though we weren't quite ready for a new foster, this girl just kind of fell into our laps...almost literally!!
Our most favoritest neighbor across the street also fosters for Second Chance Dog Rescue, and someone in the neighborhood must have known it because last Friday she walked out her front door to find two scared pups in her yard. They were skin and bones and one of them (the black little girl) had a horribly broken jaw.
She was on her way out and didn't have anywhere to keep the pups, so she took them to the nearest animal shelter and was going to put a HOLD on them so nothing bad would happen to them and the rescue could get them later. Unfortunately, the animal shelter said they would immediately put the little girl to sleep because she was in 'inhumane' pain due to her broken jaw. Well, my bestest neighbor would have none of that, so she worked her magic with the rescue and got the little girl into the vet for an exam.
X-rays were taken, pain meds & antibiotics were given, and then Mom got a call asking if she could take the girl in. Of course Mom couldn't say No!
So, the little girl became Snapdragon and our official foster. She got a bath and some food, and when Mom was checking out her jaw she noticed her teeth. They weren't puppy teeth at all! This girl was actually about 9 or 10 months old and not a puppy after-all!
She was terrified of everything that first day. Me included!I tried to tell her I was a nice boy, and Mom kept saying she was so proud of me cuz I just backed off and ignored her once I knew she was scared of me.
After about an hour she started relaxing a bit. She was still terrified of the kitTONS, but who wouldn't be? Especially Fergie...she is never very nice to our new fosters.
She loosened up even more over the weekend and seemed to not even notice her broken jaw. She even tried chewing on one of my bones, but that creeped Mom out so she quickly took it away from her.
Monday morning she had to go back to the vet and possibly have surgery to repair her jaw. We'll tell you more about that in another post!

Brilliant! We wish you all the very best and cannot wait to read more. Sending big love and healing paw. Have a super Saturday.
Best wishes Molly
What will they do for her jaw? They are both adorable!

I work at a vet's office and my heart goes out to Snapdragon. I'm sure they can fix it but make sure they send her home with some GOOD pain meds.
If I didn't have a houseful...I would offer to take BOTH.
I will never understand how people can be so heartless and I pray that Karma comes back and bites them.
