Snapdragon ended up having surgery last Monday, and staying over night at the vet.
Mom was a bit upset when she got the email from the rescue saying the vet decided against repairing her jaw, deciding to remove the broken piece instead. How was she going to look?
Mom imagined the worst, her entire lower jaw missing...her tongue always hanging out, but the rescue assured her Snapdragon was going to be able to eat and drink without a problem.
Did the vet make this decision because it was cheaper to remove the jaw than repair it? Would the decision been different if Snapdragon had been owned by a family instead of being a rescue? It was a very upsetting day.
As we drove to pick Snapdragon up Tuesday evening, Mom tried to prepare herself for the worst. She was such a sweet dog, it wouldn't matter what she looked like, right?
Much to Mom's pleasure and surprise, Snappy looked amazing! We could hardly tell anything was wrong with her. The vet ended up just removing the broken piece, which was basically her right lower canine and one or two teeth next to it. Phew!! We were so happy for Snappy!!
She'll be with us for another few weeks, first her jaw has to heal and then she'll need to be spayed. There are already several applications for her though, so we are sure she's gonna find a wonderful family!

Murphy, we just caught up with little Snagdragon and her sibling. How wonderful your neighbour helped her and even more wonderful you and your family helped foster her!! We're happy the surgery went so well. Paws crossed these little doggies find a loving forever home. They sure deserve it after what they have been through. Thanks Murphy and family. We think you are grrreat! No worries, and love, Stella and Rory (and Carol)
