Have you been watching the news?
Mom has...she can't seem to stop watching the news.
The company Mom works for has a plant in Japan. In Fukushima...where the Nuclear power plant is. Fortunately, they were able to contact corporate offices in the U.S. and let them know everyone was OK, but both of the buildings had some damage and many of her coworkers from Japan had their houses destroyed. Mom keeps praying everything will be ok with the power plant. Can you send a prayer too?
It makes her super sad...to see all the devastation and destruction that happened in Japan. To think of all the men, woman and children who lost their lives. It makes her think about what would happen if a large earthquake like that hit here...in Sandy Eggo, CA. What would she do if she wasn't at home when it happened...how would she get back to me & the kitTONs. What kind of emergency kit should she put together for all of us? Its been on her mind a lot since Friday, and then yesterday, she sees this video on Facebook.
A woof of warning for your humans...make sure there are tissues close by. Mom's eyes leaked all over the place and now all she has to do is think about the dogs in the video and they start leaking again.
Be a part of the change...World Vets is collecting donations to help the animals in Japan. You can donate by clicking here, or if you click on the 'chip in' linky on the left side of our bloggy. Any little bit helps.
UPDATE from Two Little Cavaliers Bloggie:
These dogs were rescued! This is from Kenn Sakurai on FB "This is what it's like when we could find the dogs at the actual disaster area. The white has gotten weak but the brown one i...s not allowing to get closer. The TV crew shot this. We have already got these dog. But it too two hours to take them to the closest shelter. The guys who had done that had the bigger plastic cage on the back of the bike. Having such weight on the back is risky for going the way with no road." and "Both dogs brought to Mito, Ibaraki. One is staying at the vet clinic and the brown and white one is at the shelter."

It is absolutely devastating what has happened to Japan! We were very sad when we saw the video, but glad to hear that they got rescued :)
Our thought out to everyone in Japan!
Licks and lots of slobber to heal the wounds of Japan,

That is such a touching video. Sure hope the white doggie makes it. And that they have some family to claim them. Mama has donated for us to World Vet, as we don't have our own plastic money.
Your questions about being prepared for a disaster struck home with mama. She's been thinking a lot about that, too -- what we'd need to take, how much time she'd have. We're not earthquake prone in MD, but we do get the occasional hurricane. The biggest concern is probably the most unlikely: MD also has old nuclear power plants still in operation and less than 50 miles from our house.
