Its official!
My buddy, Titan, has officially been named the new "World's Tallest Dog" by the Guiness Book of World Records. How exciting is that! Before Gibson, the last record holder, succumbed to bone cancer earlier in the year, Diana (Titan's owner) had decided she was going to challenge the record. Gibson measured in at 42.2 inches tall, which in all rights is a very tall dog!
Titan, however, is officially measured at 42.25" tall....can you imagine?
Actually, I can! Lucky for me, Titan and his mom (and fursister & furbrudder) live here in Sandy Eggo too. We regularly meet up with them for the San Diego Great Dane meetup. In fact, tomorrow is another meetup at a local beach...I'll have to be sure to get some pictures with the new star!
Mom always laughs when people tell her how big I am. I think she's measured me at about 34" tall (in her most unofficial way of measuring, that is!), so Titan is a good 8" taller at the should than me and actually makes me look a bit runty!
Best wishes go to Diana and Titan. He is a beautiful dog, and super sweet. He has always been a great ambassador to the breed, and now he is going to take on that title in an even grander way! Diana is going to have her work cut out for her, unfortunately there are some people who critisize her for going for this title and feel it is a detriment to the breed. Kinda like the movie Marley when everyone went lab crazy. Diana is a smart lady though, and knows she has a tremendous opportunity to educate the public, not only on the importance of good genetics (Titan is a white GD and has a lot of health problems due to poor breeding...blindness, deafness, epilepsy, etc) but also on the importance of rescueing dogs. If there is one person who is up for that challenge, its Diana and both Mom and I wish her the best! WOOF!

Wow that is so cool that you are friends with him. We saw his picture on the news today and read the whole story. I actually thought about you when I read it, thinking you must be a big as he is. Guess I was wrong, huh? LOL. Can't wait to see the pictures of you two together!
