Guess What!?!

Mom can't believe that I'm 2 already...it seems like just yesterday, when I came to live with her at 12 weeks old.

For those of you who don't know, Mom found me through a Craigslist ad. My first humans (let's call them 'the dumb ones') bought me from a BYBer somewhere in Mass a chu sits and shipped me all the way to Sandy Eggo. 2 weeks after they got me, the dumb ones moved into an apartment that didn't take big dogs. (now can you see why we call them the dumb ones?)

Anyhow, Mom had recently lost her last doggie Hannah and was heartbroken over it. She knew she wanted another Great Dane, so she started lookin at both reputable breeders and at rescues or other people who needed to rehome their doggie. That's when she found ME!

The dumb ones gave Mom my breeders information, so she contacted them to find out more about my parents. Mom later put two and two together and figured out she was a BYB cuz as soon as Mom asked questions about what kind of health testing my parents had, the woman stopped answering Mom's emails.

Here's my Dad...King Tao. He was a big boy at 180 lbs!

And this is my Mom. Never did find out what her name was.

Before my breeder stopped talking to Mom, she sent her some of my baby pictures. My eyes just opening here...maybe 2 weeks old?

Here I am, at either 3 or 4 weeks. Pretty cute, huh!

There were 11 pups in my litter! That's a lot of mouths to feed! Can you spot me in the video? Mom says I'm right at the beginning, and again at about 50 seconds into it. I think I was about 4 weeks old in this video

Since the dumb ones couldn't keep me, Mom arranged to go up and see me. She says she was just going 'to look'....yeah right!

Here's the very first picture she took of me...it was from her cell phone, so the quality isn't that good, but could you resist that face?

We stopped at the pet store on the way home...course I needed a new bed and some toys! and the rest is history!

look at me now!

All growed up.

and guess where we are going this weekend to celebrate?

Yep, my favoritest place...the beach!

Yipee!

A serious review on Sirius Republic Collars

ok... maybe the title of this post isn't completely true. I mean, really...have you ever known me to be completely serious?!? BOL!

ok, ok, come on now. I can totally be serious! Especially when I have something cool to share with you.

you see, early in January...this super nice lady named Jennifer from Sirius Republic contacted Mom. She was hoping Mom would do a review of one of her new 2" martingale collars. Collars, you say?? Yeah, if you know Mom then you know what kind of collar addiction she has. She jumped at the chance!

Sirius Republic.com

Just so you know, this collar was given to us by Sirius...but Mom made sure to let Jennifer know that we would still give a fair and unbiased review. Even if that meant we didn't like the collar. Jennifer...being the professional business person that she is, was totally on board with that.

So, Friday afternoon, Mom got the mail and there was a package addressed to me! She opened it real quick, excited to see what Jennifer had sent us, and was so pleased with what she saw! It was a high quality, beautiful blue Hawaiian print martingale.

Check me out! Whaddya think?

I think this is gonna be my new favorite 'goin-out' collar. Its super well crafted, hand-sewn and made out of cotton fabric with a nylon webbing. One of Mom's favorite things about martingales is I can't slip out of them. They used to be only popular with the Greyhound crowd, but more and more regular-speed doggies are now seen in them. If you have a doggie who likes to back out of their collars when they get nervous or scared (or are just being stubborn!), you should try one of these types of collars out.

While Mom loves the look of the 2" collars, she's a little wary about havin me wear them all the time. Once, I had one of my older 2" collars on and I was itchin myself on my neck with my back foot. Since the D-ring on the 2" collars is so big, one of my toes got caught in it! Luckily, Mom was sittin right next to me so she could untangle my toe before I started gettin to worried about it, but now she worries something like that might happen when she's not around. If I were to panic, I could really hurt myself! Because of that, Mom has deemed all my 2" collars as my 'dress' collars, so I get to wear those when we go to doggie festivals or Yappy Hours. Otherwise, when I'm just around the house I wear the 1.5" collar. It has a smaller D-ring, so my toes can't get caught.

Anyway...you should totally go check out the Sirius Republic website. She's got lots of different things available, not just collars! There are some really good lookin designs. Sirius Republic is also on Facebook, so make sure to head over there and 'like' their page! Its now one of MY favorites!!

Beach day with the cousins!

Met up with my cousins at Dog Beach in OB. It was an overcast day & Mom kept complainin that she was cold, but we had so much fun!

Cousin Marley won the slobber contest. This was quite impressive...

My newest cousin, Dhani (pronounced Dawn-ee). She can totally hang with the big dogs!

I played keep-away with Oliver...

and tug-a-war

Toby discovered his calling as a frisbee dog

boy...this bulldog was serious about guarding his log. I steered way clear!

Oliver is helpful too, and such a good swimmer!

Dhani gave Marley a bad case of the zoomies...it was fun to see an old girl like her kick up her heels!

I got to make sand angels!

Dhani had such a great time...

she even met a Great Dane who was her size!

Mulligan was such a cute girl. Check out those crazy ears!

phew, it was tirin just watchin those two play. I warned Dhani that this was probably the last time she'd be able to pin Mulli. The next time we see her she'll probably be twice her size!

Another FUN day at the beach!

52 weeks of Murphy - 52/52!

Tucker'd out!

Wow! I can't believe its over! For those of you who don't know....Mom volunteered me to be in a Flickr group in 2010 called "52 Weeks for Dogs". The purpose of the group was to take 1 photo each week of the same dog...with the final goal being 52 photos of yours truly. The photos had to be taken during the current week (super strict moderators even checked the dates randomly to make sure everyone was playin by the rules!)

Mom says she really enjoyed the challenge, although towards the end it got harder and harder to be creative with the photos. If I had had my way, every photo would of been of me at the beach! My most favoritest place! But Mom didn't think the other members of the group would enjoy that as much as me, so she tried to change it around each week.

She hopes you've enjoyed each weeks photo! Some members of the group have decided to move on to 2011...but Mom is taking a bit of a break. Instead, she's joined a "12 months" group. Much more manageable!

In case you missed any of the weeks, here's a slideshow for you of all 52 weeks!

2010 Holiday Fun (picture heavy!)

Happy New Year everydoggy & everykitTON!

Wow. I have had the craziest last 2 weeks! Mom & I headed up to Grandpaw & Grandmaw's house because my Uncle Dan & his family were visiting from Vermont, and my Auntie Tracy & her family were visiting from San Jose, CA. Let me tell you, I had the most fun EVER!!

Uncle Dan brought my 3 cousins with him. S is 7, V is 5 & C is 3. It was the first time meeting them & we hit it off great! I also got to see my cousin E from San Jose. Since she lives closer I see her more often, but it was still fun to see her again...she's 17 months now & has gotten so big!

Mom, of course, made me pose in front of the Christmas tree for some holiday photos.

But I also got to do a lot of playin! I went to the playground with the cousins...

learned how to play Connect Four...

but soon I got bored...

Upside Down Connect Four is SO much more fun!

Mom got me a new holiday collar!

I gots to go to the beach with my favorite boy cousin!

and while I was there I dug a nice hole...

but then the lifeguard came over and said "no dogs on the beach" so I went back to the car to hang out

more holiday photos

dumb bears! (this got Mom to end the photo session REAL quick!!) BOL!

and then Santa Paws came!

soon I figured out most of the presents were for the cousins...

but Santa Paws brought me a few!

I was a super duper good unwrapper!

Lil E wanted to help...but I had this one no problem

Ugh...a dumb backpack. I like the stuffies better!

Big hugs from Mom!

and big hugs from little E!

a quick picture with Grandpaw, Grandmaw & all the grandkids!

and then another one with Mom & all my cousins

phew. What an amazing 2 weeks with the family! Can't wait to do it all again!

Now, can I take a nap??
