My birthday pawty!

Sunday morning was like every other Sunday morning. We headed out to our Leash Your Fitness class to work out and have fun with furriends.

After class though, Mom pulled out this! A Birthday cake she had made...just for me! Well...at least I thought it was just for me. I found out later that I had to share it with my furriends.

 
First...a few photos. Our Leash Your Fitness leader, Dawn, has this silly hat all the birthday dogs have to wear. At least it seemed to fit pretty well!!

One piece was not enough. I tried licking all the rest of the pieces in hopes that no doggy would want one...but my plan didn't work.

At the end of class we had to all sit nice and pretty for a group photo. It was a fun day...I think we should have cake more often!!

Happy Birthday to me!!

Holy cow! I turned 3 today!! Mom is still in shock...she can't believe that 3 years have gone by so quickly! I was a pretty cute little tyke though, wasn't I? BOL!

A little while ago, Mom received a request to do a review of the inter-webby site called MrChewy.com.

Its a website with LOTS of stuff that dogs just like me would just love to have. Treats, food, bones, and even flea products. And not just for us doggies, but also for the kitTONs in your life.

Mom buys LOTS of stuff online...mainly cuz I ask her too...oh, and cuz I threaten to drool on her clothes if she doesn't. MrChewy.com was super easy and super fast.

She ordered a bunch of dog treats from them (Stella & Chewy's...my favorites!!), and is planning on ordering more items in the future. Their website is nice and user friendly, and it was easy to find what she was looking for. Placing the order was super easy too, and their service was great! The package arrived in the mail just a few days later! Thank goodness...cuz I do NOT like waiting. BOL!

Murphydogs' Mom here...Just wanted to give full disclosure. I was contacted by a representative from MrChewy.com asking me to do a review. They did offer me $50 worth of products from their online store in exchange for the review, however as I told them...if I don't like the products, service, or anything else about the website, I will be completely honest. $50 can buy a nice amount of treats, but it can't buy my opinion. My 1st 5K race!!

This past Sunday me & Mom ran in our very first 5K race!  It was the Petco Walk Run Wag race, and boy was it fun!!

Mom's done a bunch of these races thingies before...but this was the first one she'd signed up for that allowed those of us with 4 legs to compete in!

We signed up as part of Leash Your Fitness's team. There were 22 of us total (and that was only counting the bipeds!) You could sign up to either walk or run. Mom decided to run with me, cuz we've been running as a team for about a year now. I can go up to about 4 miles! Most of the time its not a continuous run though...Mom worries about my legs and joints. Instead, we do drills. Indian Sprints, stair repeats, hill repeats...all with a little bit of walking recovery time in between. Mom says that walking is for my sake, but I know the truth...she's the one who needs the walk break! BOL!

I missed out on the team picture cuz I was 'lightening my load'...so to speak. BOL!

Mom was totally lame and forgot her camera, so all these pictures came from a friend. Here we are, checkin out our race results. We had a personal record!! Then again, anything would have been a personal record since this was our very first race together! BOL!

The Leash Your Fitness team won 3rd place for the fastest group time! That was paw'some!

What a super fun day. I was wiped out when we were done and slept most of the rest of the day. An endurance athlete needs his rest!!

Can't wait for the next event! The Puppy Love Run is in February, and we've got to beat our time!!

Rheda found a home today!!

We kinda knew it would be fast, but who knew it would be THIS fast!

She'd only been with us for a week. Today, Second Chance Dog Rescue was having an adoption event in front of a local Petco. There were about 45 other dogs available.

Mom got there about an hour after it started and planned on staying with Rheda until it was over. Not 5 minutes after she got there, a woman came up and said they'd been waiting for Rheda to get there. She seemed very nice and had her grand-daughters with her.

Rheda was a little nervous, and clingy to Mom but after a few minutes started warming up to the girls.

I think she's gonna get completely spoiled and have a wonderful life with her new family...but I'm definitely gonna miss her!

That all changed last night though, cuz one of Mom's friends (who just happens to be a dog groomer) offered to spiffy little Rheda up for her adoption event on Saturday.

Rheda got a good brushing...and then the dreaded bath. She was a trooper though, and very well behaved through the entire ordeal!

I think she shoulda bit both of em though when they started giving her crazy hair. Come on...show a little respect for a wet doggie!

After her brazilian blow out, she was one big poof ball!

All purty and ready to find her forever home on Saturday! Lookin good Rheda!

As soon as we got home, I added my own little touch to her doo. Yep, you guessed it. Slobber. Mom was NOT happy with me, but I thought she looked cute! BOL!

Oh boy!

Santa brought Mom a dehydrator for Christmas...and since she's off work until tomorrow, she decided to make me JERKY!!

 

She kept cuttin my meat up into small strips and I couldn't figure out why.

Then she put it in this strange contraption...and turned it on...

It made a soft whirring noise...and soon the house had the wonderful scent of cooking meat. I kept waiting, and waiting and waiting...

 

and FINALLY it was ready!

YUM! I think Mom should quit her day job and just make this for me full time!

Meet Rheda

Rheda is our new foster dog! Mom decided one of her resolutions for the New Year would be to do more volunteering. Since she's super busy and doesn't have a lot of spare time, this seemed like a good option!

Rheda is about a year old. She came from a horrible shelter in San Bernadino..and was just about to be put to sleep when a local rescue in Sandy Eggo pulled her. She's completely adoptable, but apparently this shelter kills perfectly healthy doggies all the time...even when they are not full!! Ugh, that just makes both me & Mom sick!

Lucky for Rheda, Second Chance Dog Rescue got her out in time and now she's staying with us for a little bit. I'm sure she'll find a forever home in no time, she's soooo sweet and very cute! How could anyone not fall in love with those eyebrows? BOL!
