Meet Arlana. She is our newest foster and came to stay with us yesterday afternoon. Me & Mom picked her up from the rescue around 4pm.
Arlana came to the rescue from Mexico. She lived with a family there, but didn't get much love or attention. She lived most of her life in the backyard...without much socialization with either people or other dogs.
Last week, the rescue got a call from her owner. The girls father decided he didn't want to pick up dog poop anymore, and told his daughter to get rid of her before he got home that day. If Second Chance Dog Rescue couldn't take her, she was going to be kicked out on the streets to fend for herself.
Luckily, the rescue found a foster on short notice and they were able to take her in.
Then Mom got an email on Friday asking if we could take her in. The original foster had an older Cocker Spaniel who wasn't adjusting well to having a young pup in the house. Mom said 'sure!' so we went to pick her up yesterday afternoon.
The poor little girl was terrified of me at first. If I got anywhere close to her she'd start yelping and squealing like I was killing her. Mom was super proud of me though...I just went quietly and laid on my bed so she would know I was an ok guy.
By this morning we were starting to become friends. She was still nervous if I moved too fast...but would no longer freak out like she did the night before.
Then, Mom got an email with an application from a family who had another spaniel mix who was about 2.5 years old. She took her over to meet the family & other dog this afternoon at about 1pm, and Arlana got a new home!
It was our quickest foster yet, and hopefully things will work out with her new family. Me & Mom wish her all the luck, she deserves to be somewhere where she is getting love and attention for the rest of her life!
