A new cousin!!

Yipeee! I have a new cousin!

He is coming to join Uncle Dan & Auntie Joni in just a few short weeks. July 11th to be exact. He sure is a super lucky pup...he'll be living with my human cousins Sebastian, Veronica and Clarabel. What a fun time that is gonna be! Not only that, but right when they pick him up he gets to go with them to Brantingham Lake to meet the extended family. I'm soooo jealous!

Not sure if I'll ever get to meet him, cuz he lives all the ways across the US in Vermont, but I bet we'd get along just great. Afterall...we are both black & white! He even has a cute little pink spotted nose like mine used to be!

Yipeee! Welcome to the family!! Now you just need a name!

Online dating

Online dating...I hear its all the rage. Well, tonight I took part. Mom found a great website not that long ago, with lots of different information about us Great Danes. Its called Danes Online (obviously), and is full of just a ton of information on feeding, surgery guidelines, breeding, silly stories....you name it, this website has it. You can check it out for yourself at http://dolforum.com/forum/index.php

Well, earlier this week a new member introduced themselves, and it turns out they live in San Diego! Not only that but his dane (Marilyn) was born on 1/27/09...just 1 day before me! Imagine that!
After a few emails back and forth with Tony (that's Marilyn's human) it was decided that we had to meet. Not only to compare size and growth, but to also have someone the same age to play with. It gets kinda hard trying to play with all the other 5 month old dogs when they are 1/3 to 1/2 my size!
So, tonight after work Mom loaded me in the SUV (yeah, yeah...I still aint gettin in that thing on my own, but why should I when she lifts me up so nicely??) and we headed over to dog beach in OB. Yipeee! I LOVE the beach!
Right away after we got there I spotted Marilyn. Marilyn's dad said the breeder told him she was a harlequin, but that obviously says alot about what kind of breeder she is. Marilyn is actually what you would consider a piebald. Harlequins are basically white with patchy splotches of black. Not that she still wasnt beautiful, but the breeder really didnt know what she was talking about.
Boy though, is she a big girl! We were about the same height, but she has at least 10 lbs on me. Mom says that's cuz I havent been eating much...but you try chewing on tough kibble when your crunching teeth are coming in! OUCH!
Anyway, at first I was a little intimidated by her. She's solid, and I wasnt quite sure how she'd like me. But soon we were off and racing around and having a great time!

I took her down quite a bit, but she also was pretty good with the body blows. At least that's what I let her think...I mean, really...arent you suppose to let the girls win?

Check out those ears! I thought mine were the only ones that did that!

Finally, after about an hour of playin, we were pooped. That was the cue for us to leave and of course head to Dog Beach Dog Wash. All in all though it was another great night at the beach...even if it did mean having to get another bath!

Fiesta? I didnt see a Fiesta!

Fiesta Island!! Yeah, its an island...that used to be a dump, but don't get your hopes up like I did, there is NO fiesta going on here.

Didnt matter...I still couldnt wait to get there. I just LOVE being able to run free and smell everything there is to smell in this great big world.

And BOY were there some good smells out there! Not very many other dogs, as it was kind of a gloomy evening and getting close to sunset, but I did get to meet a cute little black Great Dane pup and her older (and much wiser) big sister. Bella was a 4 month old GD, and her sister (Oops, I didnt get her name..guess I was too busy playing with Bella!) was a beautiful 6 year old Merle. They were both super nice so we played for a while while my Mom chatted with their Moms.

After a bit, we kept on walking. That's when I really got to check out the place! I got to see all kinds of birds, and there were even a few quick little fluffy tan things my mom said were rabbits. WOW! They are FAST!!

It sure was nice there, although Mom wouldnt let me get in the water. Something about not wanting to get her car all sandy. Sheesh! What a party pooper! I did real good though, and came back each time she called me. What does she expect? Of course Im going to come back each time...especially since I get a yummy treat!!

Overall, even though there wasnt a fiesta going on, that island sure is a fun time. I hope we get to go back more often!

Ocean Beach Dog Beach

Dog beach! I've come to discover that the beach is one of my most favoritest things. The sun, the sand, the surf...I am truly a California dog. Look how beautiful I look, even covered in salt water & sand!

Tonight Mom took me to a place called Dog Beach in Ocean Beach. Right away we ran into the 2 big white Great Danes I first met at the Adams Ave street fair (when I was just a wee little 11 week old pup). Titan and Ari are their names (I sure hope I spelled 'em right!). I loved loved loved Ari! She was beautiful! And so graceful...I just had to run around and try to impress her. Check out how I'm almost flying here!

After we played for a bit, Mom took me off on my own while Ari's mom talked with some other folks. We found this tennis ball and I discovered how much fun it is to chase a ball in the water! So many new things to discover!!

I also discovered how much fun it is to steal other dog's balls! Its great fun when they chase you (and I know they love it too...even though a few of them growled at me when I stole their ball).

I wasnt hardly at all scared of the water, although I didnt go in past my elbows. Good thing too cuz Mom said the tide was coming in and she warned me that she wasnt jumping in after me if I got in "too deep" and got swept away by the current. She should speak...at one point she was too busy paying attention to me and the tide snuck up behind her and got her pants wet all the way up to her calves!! hee hee, it was hard not to laugh!

Another of my favoritest things to do was DIG! I'm not exactly sure what I am going to find...but I just KNOW its gotta be something good. Plus, that sand sure feels good on my feet.

After the beach, I was quite a mess so Mom took me down to Dog Beach Dog Wash and I got a make-over. Basically just a stupid bath, but there were some yummy treats at the counter that I talked Mom into getting before we left.

I had so much fun, but boy was I was pooped! I slept all the way home, and then after dinner I decided I needed a comfortable spot to take a nap. Especially since I was all clean...I mean really, who wants a clean dog to sleep on a dirty dog bed? I figured the couch wasnt taken, so I just made myself comfortable. Unfortunately, while Mom thought it was cute it didnt last very long. The meanie says I am not allowed on the couch. Oh well, her bed is just as comfy!

BTW...in case you hadnt noticed, Im taking over the blog. Mom's blog entries are fine and all, but sheesh...it is MY blog afterall!
