Finally...something new to blog about! I've been tellin Mom she's a slacker, but she says all we ever to do lately is go to the beach and she doesn't want to bore you guys with the same sorts of pictures & stories over and over again.
So I told her she needs to quit slackin then and take me somewhere new!
So, this morning she woke me up at the crack of dawn so we could go for a hike. She said we were going to a place called Mt. Woodson. It was gonna be hot, so we had to get started early. Bleh! Its Sunday...the day of rest! This is crazy talk!
She would have none of that though, so she piled me in the car and off we went.
We arrived at the trail head and parked the car. From the east, this trail is mainly a paved fire road. Piece of cake, I thought!
so we started hiking. It was a beautiful morning, not a cloud in the sky!
little did I realize, the hike was almost straight up. 1200 feet of climbing in 1.3 miles.
Yikes, my quads were burnin!
Boy, there were some spectacular views along the way though
looking out to the west, we could see the thick layer of fog that still covered the area.
finally, we made it to the top. There were all kinds of strange towers up there.
I think someone might have been using them to talk with Aliens!!
on the way back down, we passed by a rock called "Potato Chip Rock". Lots of people actually go out on that ledge to take pictures. Mom was too chicken to try it with me though. Thank goodness!
all along the hike, we saw lots of scat.
Mom wants to know if anyone knows what kind of animal leaves this behind. If you click on the picture, you can biggefy it and get an up close look!
We decided to take the scenic way down. A beautiful single track that took us winding down the mountain
Mom sure was a slow poke! I kept having to stop and wait for her!
after we dropped a little elevation, the trail started having more shade.
It sure was a great morning for a hike, and boy was I glad we got up early cuz it was startin to get hot!
there was lots of peemail to be read.
Unfortunately, I don't speak wild animal, so most of it was like a foreign language to me
I was sure happy when our hike took us thru a beautiful forest of
California Oak trees.
They are huge trees and offered us lots of nice cool shade!
Mom wouldn't let me off leash though.
Apparently she didnt want me running thru the poison oak and then comin back to rub it off on her.
Sheesh, what a party pooper.
we hiked for a long while, and I sure was getting tired.
This was the longest hike I've ever been on!
Fortunately, Mom brought lots of water for both of us and kept wetting me down so I'd keep cool
when we finally made it back to the car, I was wiped out.
Phew, what a fun morning...I think I'll sleep the rest of the day!
