Puppy Love Run

The Puppy Love run was held in the north end of Del Mar, CA...right before you go into Solana Beach. Its a super pretty area of the northern area of Sandy Eggo, about 25 minutes north of down town.
it was a cold and gloomy morning! Perfect for running, but Mom was chilly while we waited!

We had a big team again! 25 walkers and runners, representing our Leash Your Fitness family. It was so much fun!

We even had a celebrity amongst us! Our own Scooter Bailey won a local contest and got his picture on some treat bags. He was super nice to share them with all of us!

This was me & Mom's 2nd 5K together. The last one was about a month ago and we had a ton of fun. This one supported Helen Woodward Animal Center which holds a special place in our heart cuz that's where cousin Dhani came from!

I got to see my beautiful furriend Cleo! I haven't seen her and her Mom in such a long time, I had to give her lots of leans!

We ran the whole 3.1 miles. Mom hasn't found our race results yet so I don't know how fast I was, but I do know Mom was totally draggin me down the whole time.

Hazel Rose came out again...she loves the social aspect of these races, but is definitely not a 'runner' so her Mom pushes her along in a stroller. Lucky dog!

I got lots of attention from everyone. Good thing I don't mind havin my picture taken!

My Grandpaw & Grandmaw were visiting, so Mom had someone to take lots of pictures of us. Usually she's the one with the camera so there aren't very many of the two of us together!

Mom, Denise & Cathy were stylin with their running skirts and compression socks. I personally thought she looked kinda funny.

Cousin Dhani and her Mom ran with Megan and Hazel Rose. She was so excited to see me at the finish line! You'd have thought we hadn't seen eachother in months...but it had only been about 30 minutes! BOL!

There weren't many Danes at the event. I think I might be the only 'racer' in all of Sandy Eggo! Prolly cuz Mom makes me work out with her 2-3 times a week...its important to work up distance in doggies, just like it is in humans. And...us Danes should never go running before we are full grown! Mom didn't start takin me out til I was almost 2!!

Some body even brought a pig to the event! Don't tell anyone, but I was totally freaked out by it. It made lots of weird noises. Mom kept laughing at me, calling me the mighty boar hunter. I did NOT find it funny. Not one bit.

There was a costume contest so some of the people dressed up quite silly

Love, Licks, Slobbers & Pillars of strength!

Its a special day, Mom says...to make sure you tell those in your life how much you love them.

Today, in the interwebs, lots of our blogger friends are pulling together to show our support for our furriend K who is fighting osteosarcoma. Unfortunately, Mom has had her own fair share of experience with stupid osteosarcoma. Both of her first Danes, Bristol & Tyler, both had it.

Bristol's was first found in a rib...but had spread all over her body by the time it was noticable. Mom lost her just 3 weeks after her diagnosis...but Bristol lived to the ripe old age of 11 years, which is pretty good for us giant dogs!

Tyler's showed up in his back foot. He fought it for several months, but soon his foot got too painful and Mom had to say goodbye. He was only 8 when he went to the Rainbow Bridge.

K's Mom, KB, has an amazing blog, Romping & Rolling in the Rockies, and its obvious how much she loves her boy, R, and her special girl, K. You can see amazing wildlife photos...bears, bobcats, mountain lions...you name it, she's captured it with her photos. And of course, there are the K & R stories photos. She captures their joy and enthusiasm in every photo she takes, and often they are surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Lately, her challenges with the cancer have also been part of her blog. KB's honesty about her fears in dealing with this challenge hit home with all of us who have faced that battle before. That's why we are honoring her and K on this special day.

The power of the paw is strong...we've all seen its amazing work when Maxdog got bad sickies a few years ago. It continues to work with Wilf as well, he is going strong and living life to the fullest despite a grim diagnosis over a year ago.

So, on this special day we just want to say to all our special furriends, we love you!

15 minutes of fame!

A film crew came out to film our Leash Your Fitness class this morning.

They are filming a video segment for a show called Natural Companions. Its not on a lot of networks yet, but you can find it on Dish TV and Veria.

They were super nice and took lots of video and still shots of all of us as we worked out. I had to be on my best behavior!

I even got suited up with my very OWN camera! It should be fun to see what kind of vi-dog-grapher I am! BOL!

Can't wait until it airs! Its suppose to be out sometime during the summer...so as soon as I find out when, I'll be sure to let you know!

Ciao Bella! Trisha's got a new home!

Little Trisha said farewell to us today. She went to live with a new family...one of her very own!

She sure was sweet. I think she looked up to me...in more ways than one! BOL!

I'm gonna miss her, but I'm sure glad she was able to find her own family!

Little Miss Trisha

We got another foster dog last Friday. I didn't introduce you to her right away cuz Mom wasn't sure she was gonna work out. She was terrified of the kitTONs at first and it seemed very traumatizing (for both the kitTONs and Trisha!) to have her in the house.

Fergie KitTON din't help the situation. She's kind of a diva and can be grumpy with new dogs in the house. She's not afraid and will hiss and growl and swat at anyone who comes near her. This terrified Trisha and even if Fergie didn't touch her...Trisha would yelp and cry as if she were being murdered. Go figure...she wasn't afraid of me at all even though I outweigh her by 140 lbs!!

That was last Friday and into Saturday. By Sunday though, Trisha was starting to get used to the kitTONs and vice versa. Now, if Phoebe comes lays with her on the couch...she snuggles a little closer. Its super cute!

She's currently got a horrible case of kennel cough. She started coughing on Monday and sounds like a wild goose! Mom's been giving her some Makuna Honey, a little cough syrup and antibiotics to help her get over her cough. Slowly but surely she is starting to sound better.

Mom had one potential adopter contact her early in the week...but then she got an email from the woman saying she'd changed her mind. No worries though! Mom & Trisha are meeting 2 more families tomorrow who may want to make her part of their family. Cross your paws that she finds a new home!!
