New Heights!

Its official!

My buddy, Titan, has officially been named the new "World's Tallest Dog" by the Guiness Book of World Records. How exciting is that!

Before Gibson, the last record holder, succumbed to bone cancer earlier in the year, Diana (Titan's owner) had decided she was going to challenge the record. Gibson measured in at 42.2 inches tall, which in all rights is a very tall dog!

Titan, however, is officially measured at 42.25" tall....can you imagine?

Actually, I can! Lucky for me, Titan and his mom (and fursister & furbrudder) live here in Sandy Eggo too. We regularly meet up with them for the San Diego Great Dane meetup. In fact, tomorrow is another meetup at a local beach...I'll have to be sure to get some pictures with the new star!

Mom always laughs when people tell her how big I am. I think she's measured me at about 34" tall (in her most unofficial way of measuring, that is!), so Titan is a good 8" taller at the should than me and actually makes me look a bit runty!

Best wishes go to Diana and Titan. He is a beautiful dog, and super sweet. He has always been a great ambassador to the breed, and now he is going to take on that title in an even grander way! Diana is going to have her work cut out for her, unfortunately there are some people who critisize her for going for this title and feel it is a detriment to the breed. Kinda like the movie Marley when everyone went lab crazy. Diana is a smart lady though, and knows she has a tremendous opportunity to educate the public, not only on the importance of good genetics (Titan is a white GD and has a lot of health problems due to poor breeding...blindness, deafness, epilepsy, etc) but also on the importance of rescueing dogs. If there is one person who is up for that challenge, its Diana and both Mom and I wish her the best! WOOF!

Yellow Photo Challenge

There's a photo challenge goin on, so Mom thought we should participate.

Chelsea & Shiloh over at Danes down Under have asked for doggies to post their most favorite picture in the theme of yellow.

Mom chose this one from my last camping adventure. Whaddya think? Does that count?

Che' Tierney

Mom had to go out of town again to see her SIL, sister and my youngest furless cousin. This time instead of a pet sitter, I got to go to my bestest friend's house (aka: my brudder from a nudder mudder, as he likes to call himself).

We had SO much fun! I tried not to bug Lucydog too much as she's super mature and regal and doesn't want much to do with foolish puppiness, but it was kinda hard. Luckily, Kona and I gets along super good and we were able to keep each other busy for most of the weekend. You can see lots of pictures from my weekend here.

I think we are both gonna sleep real good for a few days!

The finished product

I blogged about this back in October....a friend's boyfriend was working on a drawing of me for a graphite & pencil art class. Here's the rough sketch he worked out in about 10 minutes. 10 minutes! Sheesh...I guess those opposable thumbs really come in handy!

Here's the next phase...not quite finished yet, but coming along nicely (if I do say so myself)

And here is the finished product. Whaddya think?

Now, Mom just needs to find out how much he wants for it. She just has'ta buy it! Dont'cha think?

24/7 - Bitey face

Did you know that its possible to play bitey face 24 hours a day?

no, seriously

its true
just ask Mom if you don't believe me

its been pretty much non-stop like this since Marvin came to the house.

I think its safe to say Marvin's a cool dude. Boy does he get in trouble though. I've been keepin track. Here's just a few of the things he does that are naughty.
  1. get on the couch
  2. get on the couch by walking on the coffee table
  3. climb on the back of the couch
  4. get on the bed
  5. get on the dresser after getting on the bed
  6. eat Sophie KitTONs food, which is on the dresser so us dogs won't eat it (even I know that one!)
  7. pretend the water bowl is a pond and splash around in it with his front paws, forcing Mom to mop the kitchen which we all know she doesn't like to do!
  8. harass Sophie KitTON and make her upset (doesn't he know that's MY job?)

He's one naughty dog. He makes me look like an angel.

Overall, he's really a nice boy though, and even though Mom would like to keep him, it doesn't sound like he's stayin. Sumthin about me not bein mature enough for a brudder.

Especially for a smaller than me brudder who has no idea he is smaller than me.

I think she's worried Im gonna squish him with my large self. I don't know what makes her think that...maybe cuz every time I lie on him he squeaks like my stuffies? He keeps cumin back for more though, so what am I suppose to do?

And to tell you the truth...if you take a look at the evidence presented, most of it shows a certain fluffy dog squishing me! not the other way around!

Oh Brudder!

Mom got me a new toy!!

Well, not really...but don't you think he looks like a stuffy? Sometimes, he even squeaks like one too! Mom gets mad when I make him do that though...I got put on time out several times yesterday. I don't like time outs.

His name is Marvin. Although if he sticks around, Mom's probably gonna give him a new name. She already has one dog with a name that starts with an M. She thinks its a little confusing for us dogs if there are 2 names with Ms.

Marvin is a 1 year old 'jr poodle' according to the rescue site Mom got him from. Mom says she has never heard of a 'jr' poodle though and thinks he's either a standard poodle mix or a wheaton terrier mix of some sort. What do you think?

Don't pay attention to the dumb pink collar he has on. It was the only extra one his foster mom had. If he sticks around I'll pick him out a pretty new collar from Rescue Me Tugz (proceeds go towards Great Dane Rescue...how cool is dat?!?)

Whatever he is, he can sure hold his own against me! He's a fast lil bugger! I'm a nice boy though and often let him think he's winning by laying down and letting him jump on top of me.

He's really good at bitey face too. We can play that for hours!

Mom says he's got some bad habits she's gonna have to work on if he sticks around though. Jumping on the bed and the couch are the big ones. He thinks he's a cat! When Mom sat on the couch this morning, there was Marvin hair all over!

Anywoof, he's here for the week. Mom has to go out of town on Friday so he is staying with us until then and then his fostor mommy is taking him back until Tuesday. But, if he's good with Sophie KitTON & Im good with him (interpretted as, if I don't squish him!)...I may just have a new brudder.

Cross your paws!!

its here!

Woofeee! As some of you may know, I was prestigiously named America's Next Model-dog. Back in July, at just the wee young age of 6 months, I got my first (and only) modeling gig.

A photographer had posted in the local Craigslist that he was lookin for model-dogs for a coffee table book he was puttin together. Mom sent him a photo of me, and the next thing I knew we were being whisked away (ok, not really whisked...Mom drove her faithful CRV) to Oceanside, CA for a photo shoot.

Oceanside isn't really that far, but for a 6 month old it seemed like furevers. After the photoshoot was over, Andrew (the photographer) told Mom he liked me so much that he might consider putting me on the cover. WOOF! Dat's exciting!!

Well, Mom got an email about a week ago letting her know the book was finally ready! We loaded up in the car and drove to Muttropolis in Solana Beach. It was a pickup parteh!! Lots of the doggies who were in the book were also at the store to pick up their copies!

Here are a few of us...waiting patiently in line for our books. See that lil blue pit bull? His name is Enzo...he was only 8 weeks old when he landed the modeling gig!
We got home, and Mom started takin pictures of the book so I could blog about it. Here's the front of the book. Notice...no Murphydog on the cover. Guess my extra large body, even at 6 months, was too big to fit with the title in the center like that.

But check this out!! Does dis doggie on the back of the book look familairs?

Its ME!!! I made the back cover! Woofie!!

There are also several pictures on the inside of the book as well. I forgot what a cute young pup I was!

Mom really wanted to get some pictures of me with the book, but for some reason I found the book to be very very scary. Not sure if it was the doggie on the front (although I did meet her in real life and she wasn't scary at all). Anyway, I could hardly sit close to the book long enough for Mom to take any pictures. Look how worried I look here!

Even here, you can tell I am just not comfortable. Hey...give a guy a break. Maybe I know sumthin about the book that you dont. Maybe its possessed. Or full of evil spirits. You never know!

but I'm not stickin around to find out!! Yikes!
p.s. Mom wanted me to let you know...there's a link to the book on the right hand side of the blog. Click on that to see some of the other doggies in the book (there were 2 other Great Danes!) or to order yourself a copy. Some of the proceeds go to local animal shelters, so not only will you get the most handsomeness of handsome great danes in your book but your money goes to a good cause!
