ProActive Balance Review

Most of you might be aware that Mom feeds me a raw diet. The diet I get is also known as Raw Prey Model. I've been on it since I was about 11 months old...so just over a whole year now.

My diet consists of 80% muscle meat, 10% bone & 10% organ meat.

For the most part I do great on this diet. My skin is not dry & my coat is glossy. My teeth are nice and clean. I do have a super sensitive stomach though, and sometimes I still get soft poops (sheesh Mom...I can't believe you are making me blog about this, its SOO embarrassing!)

Because of that, Mom is always lookin for supplements that might help my tummy troubles. One thing she tries to give me on a regular basis is probiotics, so when a rep from ProActive Balance contacted her about giving their supplement a try, she said 'sure!'.
ProActve Blance
The nice lady sent us a 30 day supple of the supplement, with instructions to give one packet daily with a meal. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to make much sense to Mom. The packets were super small....and I'm not sure if the rep has ever seen me...but I'm super huge! Does that mean a small 5 lb dog gets the same daily dose that I do at 140 lbs? Something doesn't seem right about that.

The next problem was how to feed. Since I get raw meat, there isn't always something for Mom to mix it in. She tried sprinkling it on my chicken, or my beef...but I am a smart boy and didn't really want to eat a piece of meat that had sprinkles all over it! On the days that I got ground beef, or canned mackeral, it was easy to feed...but the other days, not so much.

The only other thing that Mom wasn't sure about was the ingredients. Nutriose, Dextriose, pre-biotics & pro-biotics.

1st. Nutriose is a soluble fiber made from wheat and maize starch. From what Mom's read, wheat and maize (aka: corn!) are two items that a lot of dogs have problems digesting, or have allergies to. If your dog doesn't...that's great. Maybe this is the product for you!

2nd, Dextriose is basically sugar.

lastly, Mom couldn't find much information on the prebiotics & probiotics that are part of the ingredient list.

Overall, Mom didn't see any real benefit from feeding this supplement. That's not to say you won't though! Go check out their website, and you can even get a free sample...give it a try and see what you think!

Guess What!?!

Mom can't believe that I'm 2 already...it seems like just yesterday, when I came to live with her at 12 weeks old.

For those of you who don't know, Mom found me through a Craigslist ad. My first humans (let's call them 'the dumb ones') bought me from a BYBer somewhere in Mass a chu sits and shipped me all the way to Sandy Eggo. 2 weeks after they got me, the dumb ones moved into an apartment that didn't take big dogs. (now can you see why we call them the dumb ones?)

Anyhow, Mom had recently lost her last doggie Hannah and was heartbroken over it. She knew she wanted another Great Dane, so she started lookin at both reputable breeders and at rescues or other people who needed to rehome their doggie. That's when she found ME!

The dumb ones gave Mom my breeders information, so she contacted them to find out more about my parents. Mom later put two and two together and figured out she was a BYB cuz as soon as Mom asked questions about what kind of health testing my parents had, the woman stopped answering Mom's emails.

Here's my Dad...King Tao. He was a big boy at 180 lbs!

And this is my Mom. Never did find out what her name was.

Before my breeder stopped talking to Mom, she sent her some of my baby pictures. My eyes just opening here...maybe 2 weeks old?

Here I am, at either 3 or 4 weeks. Pretty cute, huh!

There were 11 pups in my litter! That's a lot of mouths to feed! Can you spot me in the video? Mom says I'm right at the beginning, and again at about 50 seconds into it. I think I was about 4 weeks old in this video

Since the dumb ones couldn't keep me, Mom arranged to go up and see me. She says she was just going 'to look'....yeah right!

Here's the very first picture she took of me...it was from her cell phone, so the quality isn't that good, but could you resist that face?

We stopped at the pet store on the way home...course I needed a new bed and some toys! and the rest is history!

look at me now!

All growed up.

and guess where we are going this weekend to celebrate?

Yep, my favoritest place...the beach!

Yipee!

A serious review on Sirius Republic Collars

ok... maybe the title of this post isn't completely true. I mean, really...have you ever known me to be completely serious?!? BOL!

ok, ok, come on now. I can totally be serious! Especially when I have something cool to share with you.

you see, early in January...this super nice lady named Jennifer from Sirius Republic contacted Mom. She was hoping Mom would do a review of one of her new 2" martingale collars. Collars, you say?? Yeah, if you know Mom then you know what kind of collar addiction she has. She jumped at the chance!

Sirius Republic.com

Just so you know, this collar was given to us by Sirius...but Mom made sure to let Jennifer know that we would still give a fair and unbiased review. Even if that meant we didn't like the collar. Jennifer...being the professional business person that she is, was totally on board with that.

So, Friday afternoon, Mom got the mail and there was a package addressed to me! She opened it real quick, excited to see what Jennifer had sent us, and was so pleased with what she saw! It was a high quality, beautiful blue Hawaiian print martingale.

Check me out! Whaddya think?

I think this is gonna be my new favorite 'goin-out' collar. Its super well crafted, hand-sewn and made out of cotton fabric with a nylon webbing. One of Mom's favorite things about martingales is I can't slip out of them. They used to be only popular with the Greyhound crowd, but more and more regular-speed doggies are now seen in them. If you have a doggie who likes to back out of their collars when they get nervous or scared (or are just being stubborn!), you should try one of these types of collars out.

While Mom loves the look of the 2" collars, she's a little wary about havin me wear them all the time. Once, I had one of my older 2" collars on and I was itchin myself on my neck with my back foot. Since the D-ring on the 2" collars is so big, one of my toes got caught in it! Luckily, Mom was sittin right next to me so she could untangle my toe before I started gettin to worried about it, but now she worries something like that might happen when she's not around. If I were to panic, I could really hurt myself! Because of that, Mom has deemed all my 2" collars as my 'dress' collars, so I get to wear those when we go to doggie festivals or Yappy Hours. Otherwise, when I'm just around the house I wear the 1.5" collar. It has a smaller D-ring, so my toes can't get caught.

Anyway...you should totally go check out the Sirius Republic website. She's got lots of different things available, not just collars! There are some really good lookin designs. Sirius Republic is also on Facebook, so make sure to head over there and 'like' their page! Its now one of MY favorites!!

Beach day with the cousins!

Met up with my cousins at Dog Beach in OB. It was an overcast day & Mom kept complainin that she was cold, but we had so much fun!

Cousin Marley won the slobber contest. This was quite impressive...

My newest cousin, Dhani (pronounced Dawn-ee). She can totally hang with the big dogs!

I played keep-away with Oliver...

and tug-a-war

Toby discovered his calling as a frisbee dog

boy...this bulldog was serious about guarding his log. I steered way clear!

Oliver is helpful too, and such a good swimmer!

Dhani gave Marley a bad case of the zoomies...it was fun to see an old girl like her kick up her heels!

I got to make sand angels!

Dhani had such a great time...

she even met a Great Dane who was her size!

Mulligan was such a cute girl. Check out those crazy ears!

phew, it was tirin just watchin those two play. I warned Dhani that this was probably the last time she'd be able to pin Mulli. The next time we see her she'll probably be twice her size!

Another FUN day at the beach!
